i had this same prob, it does work on a classic no matter what but it will only work on your Mac or Windows computer, iPhone, iPod touch, iPod classic, or iPod Nano (3rd generation) or on your TV using Apple TV. to do this, you have to update your itunes and your ipod, make sure they are up to update both or else it wont work. thats what happened to me, cya!
