Do I have to follow the game structure when writing a fic for it?
A. No. Some fics do (the UFO collaborative fanfic for example) and are none the worse for it. But most fics at least touch on matters not covered by the games and some (Skonar’s X-Com Chronicles are a good example) are solely concerned with areas that don’t appear in the games at all. If you want to write about a deep sea salvage crew recovering downed USOs for X-Com in TFTD, go ahead. Q. X-Com smells. I want to write Aftermath/Aftershock/Silent Storm fanfic. A. Talk to Accounting Troll about the AM/AS collaborative fanfic, or post your own in the AM/AS fanfic section. As for S2, no one has written any yet, so if you’re the first you could get the job of running the section. If you beg. Q.
