Do all growers pay 40 cents a bucket?
No. One of Taco Bell’s suppliers, the Six L’s Packing Company, pays 40 cents for every 32 pound bucket. They are the lowest paying grower. The highest paying grower pays 50 cents per bucket. If the 40 cent piece rate had simply kept pace with inflation since 1980, farmworkers would be earning 92 cents a bucket today (Consumer Price Index, Inflation Calculator, http://www.bls.gov/cpi/home.htm#data).
