Do Airline prices increase and the drop again?
Yes, airline ticket prices start high, then dip, and then rise again. There is little chance that your ticket will drop in price again though it is possible for an airline to have a late sale offer if the flight is under-booked. Nearly all airlines use the same style of software to maximise revenue on long flights so you will see the same dip-rise trend on nearly every long flight you look at, anywhere in the world. The cheap-flight finders are doing just that, and you can too. Check the same flight number at weekly or daily intervals for several weeks after your September flight and you will see the trend and find what time scale is currently operating to find the lowest price for that flight. Changing your departure date is the best way to get a cheaper price. It’s best to start looking at prices at least 4 months before you intend to fly, and note the price trend, so you can catch the ticket at the lowest price. I normally start looking 5-6 months before, for very long flights, like
Angela, with less than 6 weeks to September, prices will probably rise in the coming weeks rather than reduce. What may happen is close to dates, the airline may release a limited number of seats at a lower price, but in general this is only when sales have been lower than expected, and they are trying to stimulate sales. Shop around a bit to see if you can get it cheaper, but you’re best bet is to book as early as possible to save disappointment.
