Could the world enter a new ice age?

You bet! In fact, sudden drops in temperature are fairly common according to ice cores retrieved fro the Antarctic. Periods of warming, in which we currently find ourselves, are marked by sudden declines in temperature, which can occur in as little as a decade. A mini-ice-age would bring disastrous consequences – loss of electrical power due to ice buildup would be one of the first. And when the power goes out you lose communication, refrigeration, and plenty of other things we simply take for granted each day. If you have ever lived in an area that has suffered a week-long or longer power outages, you know how quickly things deteriorate. I would not want to be here if/when that happens.
