Can VisiTransact be used in a mixed environment containing both J2EE and CORBA applications?
Yes. J2EE applications deployed to Borland Enterprise Server (BES) can interact with Visitransact either implicitly, whereby the application server can locate VisiTransact and the application has transaction management performed declaratively through J2EE deployment descriptors, or explicitly where applications can locate VisiTransact through JNDI and programmatically manage transactions using JTA. CORBA applications would use the OTS API for interaction with VisiTransact. One could very well use JTA API in a CORBA Java application, or OTS API in J2EE applications or even a mixture of the two APIs in the same application but this is not advisable. From a purely technical standpoint this will work. However, there is no justification for such an approach.
