Can the recycled juice box be a new Tetra Pak package again?
Technically yes, and Canada was the first country in the world to have Tetra Brik® Aseptic made with a blend of virgin and recycled content. It didn’t last too long, however, as at Tetra Pak we strongly believe in source reduction as the best way to reduce environment impacts. Every time cellulose fibres are recycled, they loose some strength and bonding properties. Therefore, in order to have a recycled content, the board developed in Canada had to be thicker and the carton heavier. There are several kinds of paper that can benefit from recycled fibres, other than Tetra Pak cartons, without a increase in weight such as newspapers, tissue papers, corrugated boxes and so on.
