Can state employees purchase surplus property for personal use?
According to current policy guidance, an employee of the Commonwealth can buy surplus property as long as the purchase amount does not exceed $500; however, the property cannot have originated with the employee’s assigned agency of employment. More specific information is available in our policies section. Staffs that manage, conduct, or otherwise assist in an auction are not permitted to purchase surplus property.
