Can dampness in my house cause pluricy?
Dampness alone doesn’t cause pleurisy, but its possible that dampness could cause fungal growth to grow and breathing in fungal spores could be the cause. However, this isn’t very likely if you don’t also have allergy symptoms or a cough. Excessively dry air is far more likely to cause pleurisy than damp air. Many times there is no apparent cause of pelurisy, so you won’t necessarily be able to identify a cause. If the docs haven’t taken a chest x-ray and examined a blood sample, these would be the first steps in identifying a cause.
