Can anyone update me on the success / failure of Little Tern colonies in the UK this year?
You might be able to tap better resources than I can. I did find that the adverse seasonal weather has made things difficult for the little tern this summer season, but info on the nesting success doesn’t appear to be in yet. Another blurb about the Norfolk colony said that following the horrible vandal attack at that location in 2002; the colony had been improving somewhat. A report from the National Trustee indicated that volunteers (working in a down pour) at Teesside reported a good number of nesting little turns and activity. Good luck! Hope they have a good season there this year overall. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
