Another resource is to go directly to the manufacturer’s website for the model code number. For example www.lycoming.textron.com/support/publications/keyreprints/maintainence/modelcode that gets you a list of all of the meanings of the prefixes and suffixes. If you’re interested in turbine engine model codes I’d recommend the Encyclopedia of Jet Aircraft Engines.
