Basically a customer can buy more than one product at the same time, can place any amount of orders on you at any time, therefore the main customer table which should just be name and address details would be linked to a sales order table or directly to the products table as a one to many relationship. If you had a payroll database, each employee is entitled to be paid once only at whatever interval therefore, the main employee details table would be linked to the payroll table as a one to one relationship.
