We have a Miniature Schnauzer puppy. Oh my gosh… so is soooo much fun. She loves all 4 of our children… she is very family oriented. Ours never barks, EVER… the only time we have heard her bark is when we are playing with her. We can run circles around our house (between two rooms) we will run around and try to stay out of her site. That’s the only time she has ever barked. In fact, we trained our puppy to ring jingle bells hanging on the door knob, because she won’t bark to let us know she needs out. She potty trained very quickly and she is soooo cute. Her expressions are priceless. I believe a Miniature Schnauzer would get along well with a cat. Ours gets along with anything that has visited us so far. I highly recommend one.

As long as you get it when it’s very young so it has room to adapt. Older schnauzers who are brought into new family settings are notorious for being needy, territorial, and disliking of small children and other pets. I had a miniature schnauzer from the time I was 3 to the age of 18. They are the best dogs in the world. Mine rarely ever barked. He was very calm, very collected, very loving, and very loyal. And no – they do not shed at all. They don’t need much room to play around in, most are very content just being with family and taking him to the park twice a week would be fine. Definitely a wonderful choice of dog; go for it.
