Are there two new Windows Mobile device manufactures on the horizon?
According to DigiTimes there are! The Taiwanese news source is referring to Eddie Wu, Microsoft’s senior director of device solutions sales Asia and worldwide ODM ecosystems. According to him, Microsoft convinced Inventec Appliances and Arima Communications to adopt the Windows Mobile platform. Windows Mobile partnerships in Taiwan now include BenQ, Quanta Computer, Compal Communications, High Tech Computer (HTC), Asustek Computer, Chi Mei Communication Systems, Kinpo Electronics, Mitac International and Gigabyte Communications. Wow, if this is true it is definitely good news for the Windows Mobile camp since both, Inventec and Arima are well known in the ODM business because they also manufacture for traditional mobile phone makers which basically means, the Windows Mobile device world could seriously benefit from their know-how as well as (hopefully) industrial design experiences.
