Are there organisations that are comparable to science shops?

0

There are analogues to science shops (see also FAQ 0.2); there are institutes that do the same work by a different name (e.g. InterMediu in Romania, or Interchange in Liverpool). Moreover, in the USA there are Community Based Research Centres that resemble science shops. These have mostly more intensive contact with civil society organisations and a looser contact to universities (for more information see the USA contact point). In Canada, there are Community-University Research Alliances (CURA) which are project co-operations between civil society organisations and research institutes. These CURAs are working on one project, so it is not like a walk-in science shop where any research questions can be taken up. CURA projects are funded by the federal government.
