Are there mechanisms for merging KBs or a central KB planned?
Yes! Cycorp is in the early stages of building a “Cyc-grid” of peer OpenCyc servers. Public transactions from each OpenCyc server would percolate up to the central server….Maybe in the not-too-distant future we will have 30,000 64-bit OpenCyc users who will collaborate on some worthwhile thinking task, like how to make OpenCyc/Cyc better (64-bits blows away the addressing limitation that now holds Cyc below 1.7 million assertions). By then we should have released code to make assertions in a database appear the same as assertions in memory. Also, by then we should have some kind of p2p worked out to put KB content worldwide as though it were in a single KB. All lofty goals, but things we would really like to see happen.
