Accidental disability benefits are available to those individuals who find themselves physically or mentally incapacitated because of a work-related accident. In other words, the individual’s disability is causally related to his/her employment and, but for his/her employment, the individual would not be disabled. There are also ordinary disability benefits. You should apply for ordinary disability benefits if the reason for your disability is independent of your employment as a public employee.
