Are PhD students required to teach? Are students required to be Research Assistants?
PhD students are not required to teach although some may choose to do so in their fourth year although some share the view that demonstrating that you were a course instructor helps you in your career afterwards. Students are required to be Research Assistants for the first three years of the program for a period of eight months (2 semesters), 10 hours a week. This is a requirement to receive financial support. D.
