Are local percentiles available?
If you are using the DIBELS Data System, it will calculate local district percentiles based on the data that has been entered in your account. The percentiles will be displayed on your Class List Reports and on the District-wide Norms Report. The definition of “percentile” is the percentage of students below the given score. You can word it as, “This student is doing as well as or better than __% of students in this district.” Do remember that the DIBELS measures were developed as criterion-referenced measures. This focus on determining a level of performance in relation to an empirically established goal (or benchmark) for each measure relates to the DIBELS focus on ensuring each student is developing necessary early literacy skills predictive of later successful reading experiences.
