Dogs are way smarter. They can be trained to do almost anything. They do service work, police work, bomb detection, drug detection, they do search and rescue, they provide protection they aide the physically disabled as well as the blind. Cats go on instinct not intelligence and the last couple of cats I saw were not very intelligent at all. They decided to challenge my 120 lbs dog which was the stupidest thing I have ever seen and they are no lobger here because of that.

My experience is that they are. My cats well can select the bowl with the most food even if there is just a slight quantity difference. So they can compare quantity.

It all depends on the breed. Golden retrievers are loving but rather unintelligent, while poodles rise above some cat breeds in intelligence. On average, however, cats tend to be smarter then dogs.
