Vampire romance books have become hugely popular among readers of all ages. Unfortunately, there are so many authors jumping on the vampire band wagon that the market has become over saturated with a lot books that are just too similar in plot to be considered any different than what has already been done too many times over.

The good news is that there are plenty of fantastic reads out there just waiting to be devoured, and each one is wholly different from the rest. If you enjoy a book full of suspense and breath-taking romance then you’re in for a treat. In no particular order, here is a list of the top vampire romance books for teens and young adults.

The Twilight Saga, by Stephenie Meyer

The Twilight Saga is one of the most popular vampire romance series in the world. These books are written in such a way that you can simply fall into the story and become a part of the incredible romance and the intensity that is Twilight. Stephenie Meyer changed the face of teen romance with the Twilight Saga, and forever imbedded in young readers minds the breath-taking chemistry that Bella and Edward share throughout the series.

The story just feels so unbelievably real that it’s nearly impossible not to relate to it in one way or another, despite the fact that the majority of the characters in it are supernatural.

    Twilight Saga Books

    1. Twilight
    2. New Moon
    3. Eclipse
    4. Breaking Dawn
    5. Midnight Sun (an unfinished rough draft of Twilight through Edward’s point of view)
    6. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner (an Eclipse novella)

The Night World Series, by LJ Smith

Not as well known as Twilight but certainly just as engrossing, is the Night World series. This is a great series for readers who prefer a lot of action mixed with soul deep romance between characters that were born for each other.

There are ten short stories in the series, nine of which have been published so far. While each story is unique in its own right, they all tie into one plot to complete the series. Without giving too much away, these books pit good against evil, and they all lead up to a pending battle to save the world from darkness. Tie that all in with heart-stopping chemistry between soul mates and you might have an idea of what these books contain. Simply put, they’re fantastic.

    Night World Books

    1. Night World Volume 1: Secret Vampire, Daughters of Darkness, Spellbinder
    2. Night World Volume 2: Dark Angel, The Chosen, Soulmate
    3. Night World Volume 3: Huntress, Black Dawn, Witchlight
    4. Night World Volume 4: Strange Fate (scheduled for release in July, 2011)

The Vampire Diaries, by LJ Smith

The Vampire Diaries is another great series of vampire romance books, slightly similar, yet completely different than both the Night World and the Twilight Saga. These books are gaining popularity since the start of a new TV show, The Vampire Diaries, which is based on the series, however, the TV show does not do the books justice. It’s good, yes, but it is nothing like the books. The books contain a lot of action and many, many more details that have been changed or left out of the show.

If you’re in the mood for a story with truly bad vampires, romance, and a lot of exciting surprises along the way, this is a must read. Elena Gilbert, her friends, and the two vampires who love her end up dealing with some fairly weird goings on in Fell’s Church that make for a really great read.

    2. The Fury & Dark Reunion
    3. The Return: Nightfall
    4. The Return: Shadow Souls

The House of Night Series, by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

Last but certainly not least is the House of Night series. This series takes place in a vampire finishing school where fledglings train to become adult vampires. Fledgling Zoey Redbird is new to the school and quickly finds out that while all she wants is to be normal and fit in, she has been blessed with a lot more power than any other fledgling to ever grace the halls of the House of Night. This of course makes for an interesting read, but to make things even better, Zoey must act as the eyes and ears of the vampire goddess, Nyx, and ultimately use her power to stop evil from taking over the school and all the vampire fledglings within it.
