Does your laptop seem really hot all the time? Maybe you’re afraid that eventually the heat will destroy it? You’re right. A high amount of heat is well known to be a laptop killer. This is mainly because laptops aren’t very open. It’s very difficult to get good, cool ventilation for a laptop. I’m going to give you a bit of insight on how I keep my laptop cool from day to day with some easy tips.

    1. Place your laptop in a decent open area. This is very important in many ways. It must be able to breathe in order to stay cool. The faster your fan can press hot air out, the cooler it will stay.
    2. Don’t hold your laptop on your lap. Your body heat is the problem here and it will only further increase the overall temperature of your laptop. If you absolutely have to do this, then make sure you don’t keep it on for long periods of time.
    3. Buy a cooling fan. Pretty simple and easy to do. It’s probably one of the best investments that you can do for the life of the computer. Make sure you know what size your notebook is and be sure to get a cooling fan that works with it’s size. Cooling fans aren’t very expensive and you will notice results immediately!
    4. Reduce the time at which you run high resource programs. This could range in many categories from movies to games and so on. Video games really heat up the laptop. Why? Because they make both your CPU (Central Processing Unit) and GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) work extra hard. So for all you gamers, be cautious.
    5. Give your laptop a break often. If you’ve had it on for a few hours, then turn it off and let it cool down. It will have a much longer life this way.

Remember, these are all very useful tips and if you use them then they will work. However, there are many other ways to effectively reduce laptop heat. There are programs available that will tell you the temperature of your laptop at all times. These programs will even allow you to increase the speed at which your system fans are running. A good program I recommend for this is Speedfan.
