A vacation spot on the Jersey Shore with something for everyone
Atlantic City has been long known for its casinos, but it’s reinvented itself in the past few years. You no longer have to be a gambler to enjoy this Jersey Shore vacation spot. The casinos are only the beginning here, with mega resorts, shopping, nightlife, attractions and spas stretching for miles along the boardwalk and into the city.
Hotels
The majority of the Atlantic City hotels are located along the boardwalk. There are more than a dozen of them stretching over about 30 blocks from the Hilton Atlantic City to the Trump Taj Mahal. Off the boardwalk there are a few Atlantic City hotels that may not be oceanfront, but they still face inlets and offer spectacular views and amenities, incuding full service spas — a popular addition to many Atlantic City hotels. The most popular of these are the Borgata & The Water Club; Trump Marina and Harrah’s.
Shopping
If you are looking for souvenirs or simple beachwear, you can still find plenty of that at small shops along the boardwalk, but that is no longer the only shopping option in Atlantic City. Directly across from the hotels on the boardwalk are the Atlantic City Outlets. There are over 70 stores offering bargains from companies like Nike, Kenneth Cole and Eddie Bauer. In addition to the outlets, there’s also The Pier Shops at Caesars and The Quarter at Tropicana for additional shopping.
Nightlife
The nightlife in Atlantic City now rivals that of Las Vegas. All the major hotels have at least one nightclub, including Dusk at Caesars, mur.mur at The Borgata, Casbah at the Taj Mahal and Club Worship at Showboat’s House of Blues. You can also find top entertainment performing in this New Jersey shore spot. Mariah Carey, Ringo Starr, Jay-Z and Barry Manilow are among the acts who have performed in Atlantic City.
Attractions
The boardwalk – named the country’s best by Forbes Traveler — is a popular attraction in Atlantic City as it stretches along the ocean with miles of free public beaches. At the end of the boardwalk you will find Steel Pier where rides and games will keep you having fun year round. There’s also the Atlantic City aquarium and, of course, an abundance of casinos for gambling. Keep in mind, though, that the outdoor activities are limited in the winter when the Jersey Shore can easily be snow-filled.
