It is very common to think you will add bulk when you weight train, this is untrue. If you just want to tone and add lean muscle its very simple, so don’t be afraid to pick up those weights and lets get you started. You will find listed below several ideas to set you on your way to a leaner you.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

    • Lift light weights, with high reps and more sets. Try to do 4-6 sets of 12-18 reps. Rest only for 30 seconds to minute between  sets, this will keep your metabolism moving and burning fat as fast as possible.

    • Try to work only two muscle groups at a time, the saying goes"Back and Biceps", "Legs and Abs", "Chest and Triceps".

    • Try exercising with your own body weight, jumping jacks, sit ups, pull ups, stairs, walking lunges etc. This is all low impact exercise and will create lean muscle.

    • Be sure to ALWAYS maintain your cardio routine, cardio is very important in maintaining your progress and burning  off any body fat.

    • Try new aerobics classes that use light weight training, or kickboxing, these classes can be great for toning your entire body without adding bulk.

    • Make sure you are always mixing it up in the gym, your muscles have memory and if you keep doing the same thing over and over again you will stop seeing results.

Learning how to lift weights without adding bulk is easier than you think, there are so many factors that come into play.  Those big bulky guys in the gym spend hours lifting heavy weights every day, they take obscene amounts of supplements, they eat constantly and genetics are a big part of it as well.  So don’t let it worry you, get in there and grab those weights and get the body you never knew you wanted!
