As a little girl my greatest friend was my cat. She loved me no matter the circumstances. She always had time to play with me. She never got on to me. She ate whatever I ate, even pickles. She slept on my pillow wrapped around my head like a velvet crown. If I was sad she licked my tears away and when she was happy her purrs were heard on Neptune. It never mattered how I looked or what I wore or what music I listened to. She had my back. I was sure that the love of my loyal cat would be the greatest love I ever knew. I prayed for God to let her live to be very old. She’s 23 now, still in good health  and you say she’s only lived this long to love me. You say you know as my love will keep you throughout all time.

You’ve grown to love my old cat too. You say it is because of her love and loyalty to me, the one you love. She snuggles in your lap and gives you little kisses on your cheek. You loving her makes my heart purr. I’ve been right concerning her about everything but one. Surprising as it seems I do love you more. You always have time for me. You eat whatever I attempt to cook. You sleep with me cuddled in your arms and her wrapped around your head. You wipe my tears and make me laugh til they hear me on the moon. In ponytail and sloppy clothes you look at me the same as when I’m dressed in party gowns. You not only listen to my music, you dance me across the floor and out onto the porch. You have my back, my hand, my heart and the loyalty and love of my faithful old cat.
