Soy derives from the soybeans. It can be incorporated into other food products to provide added nutritional value. As scientists learn more about how soy affects the body, they are discovering that it possesses a variety of good attrivutes. The health benefits of soy are important for maintaining a balanced diet and preventing against serious conditions.

    Fiber

Soy contains fiber, which can help to lower cholesterol. The cholesterol in the liver is used to form bile salts. When the soy fiber binds to the bile salts, it removes them from the body. This causes the liver to use up more cholesterol to make more bile salts.

The soy fiber prevents against diverticulitis. Diverticulitis is the condition that occurs when the diverticula, the pouches on the outside of the large intenstine, become inflamed. This condition can be very painful and can contribute to many digestive problems. Therefore, consuming soy protein as part of your diet can help your digestive health.

The fiber in soy also helps to maintain blood sugar levels. This is good for individuals with and without diabetes. Adding soy to your can provide you with variety, while not raising your blood sugar levels too high.

    Protein

Soy protein is necessary for keeping in good health. It contains all of the necessary amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. The body cannot make all of the amino acids by itself, which is why it is necessary to obtain them from other sources.

The protein found in soy can help to maintain cardiovascular health and prevent heart disease. It also helps to promote the function of the kidneys. Another benefit of soy protein is that the soy foods typically do not contain the saturated fats that are found within animal product foods that are high in protein.

    Molybdenum

Molybdenum is the nutrient that is most abundant in soy. It helps the kidneys to filter the waste from the body and it helps the cells to produce energy. It is also an important component for the development and function of the nervous system.

Molybdenum is crucial to many of the reactions that take place in the body. It is mostly used as a cofactor, which is the substance that is needed for the enzyme to function during the reaction. For example, molybdenum is used as a cofactor in the breakdown of sulfite to sulfate for the amino acids cysteine and methionine.

    Cancer Prevention

Soy has the health benefit of preventing against different cancers such as breast cancer and prostate cancer. Scientific evidence indicates that an increased amount of soy consumption can reduce the rate of breast cancer. The same is true for prostate cancer. Also, adding soy to your diet can decrease the spread of prostate tumors.

The health benefits of soy continue to be developed and researched. Overall, it is good to add soy to your diet. It can help your body to function properly and it can help to prevent against serious disease that may develop later on.
