Brownies are one of the most famous of all American desserts. It’s a dessert that never goes out of style. It’s popularity is right up there with the American apple pie. Most people do not know that brownies first appeared in a Sears, Roebuck and Co. catalog in 1897. The first recipe actually contained no chocolate at all. Instead it was given it’s name because of ingredients such as molasses and ground pecans. Some where along the way, they were transformed into one of our favorite flavors, chocolate. This recipe is easy to make. The brownies can be frosted with a chocolate frosting, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or served just as they come from the oven. Test these brownies with a toothpick stuck in the middle. These brownies are done when the toothpick still has some brownie clinging. You don’t want to over bake.
