You were previously the senior manager for science and innovation at Yorkshire Forward. What was the appeal of working at the University of Leeds?
The honest answer is that I’d worked with Richard Williams before and was very impressed with the senior management team here, so it was a bit of a no-brainer. I felt they were very visionary and had clear ambitions of what they wanted to achieve, and there’s a dynamic, can-do attitude that pervades across the University.
