I still find it hard to believe sometimes when someone asks the question are plastic water bottles eco friendly. It has been known for quite some time that plastic degrades only over a long period of time. it is a durable composite which is resistant to the natural degradation process, and therefore may remain for an unknown number of years. Since the 1950’s there has been over one billion tons of plastic that have found there way into our landfills, our waterways, and who knows where else it has been carelessly left. Since plastic has only been around for a short time in the grand scheme of things it is not known whether it will take hundreds of years in order for it to break down, or whether it will take thousands.
