Yellowstone Super-Volcano our biggest threat?
No, not our biggest threat – not even close. You have to consider the extremely low probability that Yellowstone will have another super-eruption anytime soon as knocking it way down the list of threats. My take on our biggest threats: 5) Global overpopulation (of humans). 4) Environmental degradation as a result of waste-production and disposal, pollution, and anthropogenic global climate change (exacerbated by overpopulation). 3) Disease – Pandemic. 2) Self-destructive behavior of humans based on extreme religious dogmas or ideologies. You could argue that extreme religious faith – regardless of the brand – is a global threat (i.e., Bronze age beliefs + 21st century weapons = bad news for society). And of course, the number one threat: 1) BEARS!
