yard rule – wheres it gone?
I was thinking that too. Perhaps it’s another one of those rules that is enforced initially then ignored. Another one that was introduced was that unless you can see clear daylight between the defender and attacker, then the attacker is onside (e.g., if the attacker is half a body length ahead then he’s onside, or basically if you’re not sure, you give the benefit of the doubt to the attacker). It was meant to encourage attacking football, but that’s disappeared too. I can’t remember this 10 yard rule being abolished, so I’m taking it that it’s just not being enforced anymore. A shame as I thought it was a decent rule and might have stopped all this dissent.
