X Factor – Are they using autotune on the microphones?
Yep, definitely used. I wonder if they were using a quantizer at the time or added it in post production as has already been suggested. I noticed that on that rubbish duo, the bloke didn’t have it on but the girl did. Absolutely disgusted with it to be honest, it’s a much overused tool as it is and can now be heard on almost every song in the charts. Using it in a competition is rediculous. How long is it going to be before people actually try and start mimicking the effect in their own singing, mistaken in the belief that that’s how professional singers actually sound like! FFS!
