Elected officials are elected to make decisions, prioritize spending and enact legislation that impacts those that elect them. This measure would help make their job more meaningful and give them the forum to educate the taxpayers as to what they are doing, and why the programs they wish to fund are important and necessary and why they should be funded. Currently this does not happen. Instead, new programs and tax increases happen with little or no prior knowledge or input from those who have to live under them or pay for them. We believe elected officials should embrace this measure.
