The School District has the capital resources to build the gymnasiums as originally intended, but they were not going to have the operating resources to maintain the gyms. The YMCA and DCSD partnership allowed the school district to not only build the gyms, but to add other enhancements to the facility while covering the operating cost to maintain the facility which also includes the current pool.
