Wouldn’t more people carrying around guns just cause more violence and crime?

We believe that more law-abiding citizens with guns can have the opposite effect than you might think. By qualifying people to carry guns the state does allow more guns on the street–but all of the new guns on the street are held by law abiding citizens who have had FBI background checks, fingerprints submitted, and pictures taken and submitted to the government. This means that there aren’t more criminals carrying guns–that number remains the same, but there are more people with guns to thwart criminals. Criminals would not go through the process of getting a concealed carry permit which would make it easier for law enforcement to catch them. Criminals don’t follow the law–that’s what makes them criminals.
