Baseball’s popularity after the strike of 1994 had risen back to par because of Big Mac and Sosa chasing Roger Maris’s record in 1998. Not many people remember that the 1998 Yankees were one of the greatest teams ever. The Yankees winning the World Series all those years didn’t hurt Baseball. Fans were still rooting for their teams to upset the Evil Empire. Also I agree. No one on the West Coast cares about the Yankees or the Red Sox. We have our own rivalry to worry about that doesn’t get national coverage despite the fact that our fans have actually killed each other in passionate disputes. The Giants-Dodgers rivalry. I remember my friend in Boston had to explain to his friends why the Giants fans were booing the Dodger players at the 2007 All Star game. That is just preposterous that our hatred for each other has no recognition. To sum it up, no matter what the Yankees and Red Sox do we don’t care. Were going to pay attention to Baseball no mater what.
