Your child’s potential intelligence is determined by genetics. Your child will, by odds, be within 10 IQ points of you and your wife, and siblings within 10 points of each other. Enriching a child by reading and playing thought provoking games and having manipulative toys, that you DO with the child increases odds your child will reach his potential intelligence. I agree that you can go overboard with “trying” to have an exceptional baby. Giving him a complex is one outcome. But don’t feel like you shouldn’t spend a lot of quality time with him. This will only enhance his life! I have heard various reports that listening to, esp. Bach before a test as a child gets older (I’m thinking high school here), enhances performance on the test. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but it’s an interesting concept as Bach has very “logical” music. Perhaps it organizes one’s thoughts more clearly, short term…who knows. But if they don’t like the music, it will probably aggravate them instead of m
