Would you like to see China sends its People Liberation Army into Afganistan to fight al-qaeda ?
If China wants to become a new world superpower, they need to start helping out with some of these missions. Honestly, we’d appreciate the Chinese shutting down their little buddies in North Korea much more than anything they could do in Afghanistan. That said, if the eradication of the Taliban as an organized government, the establishment of a fledgling democracy, and the retreat of the Taliban into Pakistan’s mountainous border region count as “very little,” I’d love to know what your standards are. Also, I’d hesitate to endorse a unit that achieved fame for mountain warfare in a war that happened 50 years ago, seeing as how all the famous mountaineers are old men by now.
