Would you consider someone having avoidant personality disorder crazy or insane or have mental issues?
As always you got the useless “go see a doctor” response. First off, medical doctors do an okay job at diagnosing anxiety disorders and depressive disorders, but that’s about it. So technically you would need to see a psychologist. Anyhow, on with your question. Generally what it means to have avoidant personality disorder is that you are socially inhibited, are often hypersensitive to perceived negative evaluations of others, you feel inadequate compared to others and you usually have for or more of the following symptoms/patterns of behavior: 1. You avoid activities that involve significant interpersonal contact because you fear their criticism, disapproval, or rejection. 2. You are unwilling to get involved with people unless you are certain of being liked. 3. You show restraint within intimate relationships because of fear of being shamed or ridiculed. 4. You are preoccupied with being criticized or rejected in social situations. 5. You are inhibited in new interpersonal situations
