ACIP recommends that LAIV should not be administered if a person has a moderate to severe acute illness, until symptoms abate. LAIV can be administered while a person has a mild illness with or without fever, and even if the person is taking antibiotics. Antibiotics do not affect the response to viral vaccines. Since LAIV is administered by the intranasal route and mucosal absorption is important to optimal immune response, it is prudent to defer vaccination in someone with nasal congestion until the condition improves, www.cdc.gov/mmwr/PDF/rr/rr5408.pdf (page 18).
