Disagree! Method Acting comes from Russian actor, Constatin Stanislavksy. His teaching has greatly influenced pretty much all of Western acting in general. Many of the top English Actors are strict practicioners of Stanislavsky’s Method. Notably Daniel Day Lewis, Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins, etc. Stanislavksy’s teachings came to America and has evolved into different schools, notably Strasberg, Adler, and Meisner. Strasberg (Taught emotional memory which is using your past memories to generate current emotions and substitution. This branch is often called Method because Strasberg had publicists): -James Dean -Jane Fonda -Marilyn Monroe -Paul Newman -Al Pacino -Dustin Hoffman -Mickey Rourke Stella Adler (Her version of Method acting focuses on using your imagination. She does NOT teach emotional memory or substitution. She was the ONLY one of the three great American teachers who actually studied with Stanislavsky.
