Would using a leather tsuba at practice be disrespectful to higher ranking individuals?

Answer Yoshi, that shouldn’t be disrespectful to use a leather tsuba at practice in my dojo, but all dojos have diffrent rules. If I was you- ask your head sensei about it and if he say it is ok, then noone should contest it. In my Kendo dojo we all respect the “Bogu” and a leather tsuba would not be a problem. We enjoy the art and not the politics of gear.
