Would treated 4 x 4s and 1 x 6 cedar boards make a strong fence?
Lowe’s or home depot has cheapest 4″x4″. If your fence will not have spacing between cedar boards, put post in ground at least 3′. The wind load on a solid wall fence will over time force short set posts to lean over. I would space vertical cedar boards about 1″ apart or more. This helps relieve some of the wind load on the fence. If you have a lot of posts to set, I would use limestone rock that has the fine limestone chips in with it. This packs like concrete. Tamp it in tight around a 12″ diameter hole that your 4″x4″‘s are in. Seal the wood good in about 2 months.
