City adopted measures such as the tenant registry and by-law requirements that licenses will only be granted if a dwelling unit is not occupied by a tenant after June 1st will help deter many landlords from evicting tenants to make way for Games visitors. However, the Residential Tenancy Act (RTA) governs the landlord/tenant relationship including evictions, and that is why Council requested the Province amend the RTA to provide further protections for tenants during the Games.
