Would there be a problem with truncating the subscriber number in the XML report to DOR, but giving the individual their entire subscriber number?

Do not truncate data in the XML file. The Subscriber Number has been set to 20 characters in the XML file and in the Schedule HC that the taxpayer will file with DOR. If you truncate the Subscriber Number in the XML file and send the taxpayer a Form MA 1099-HC with a Subscriber Number of more then 20 characters, the taxpayer will not know what to report in the Schedule HC as it will not fit in the space provided.
