Would the real Taz (Devil) please stand up?
Not this Taz but Yep that is a real Tasmanian Devil. They look cute but the cartoon character Taz from Looney Tunes definitely picked up some of his crazy characteristics from the real thing. No they don’t spin around but they do sound similar, eat just about anything and are fairly dangerous. Their jaws are nearly as strong as a crocodile (200+lbs/in^2). The above picture are of them yawning (my kind of animal) to show their teeth. They are not hunters since they can’t run over 13km/hr which means they feed off of the leftovers of others. They typically eat everything including the bones. Their jaws break right through them like hard candy. It is quite an event to listen to them eat. When they were fed during our visit, they became extremely possessive and tore into anything they got into their way including family members. In fact one of them had a ear and a couple of toes bitten off in a previous feeding. They also eat cameras and glasses which have been known to fall in. It was fun
