The Department is committed to protecting the wild rice resource in Rice Lake and Swamp Creek. For this reason, the Department is carefully analyzing impacts to wild rice stands that may result from wastewater discharge, groundwater contamination around the mine site, surface runoff, and surface water mitigation. Results of these analyses will be published in the environmental impact statement.
