Would the Legacy Church is offering a free showing of Fireproof with Kirk Cameron?
Last week Linda and I watched Fireproof after hearing some recommendations from friends about it. I had been a little skeptical because I have seen some “Christian” movies that have been a bit too cheesy for my tastes. While Fireproof had a few of those moments, I must say I was impressed with how powerful of a movie it was – especially considering how low-budget it was. I heard that all the actors were from Kirk Cameron’s church – I haven’t verified that, so don’t take it to the bank. Either way, for a marriage on the rocks, or one that wants to get stronger I don’t think there is a movie I could recommend more highly. Even if everything is perfect in your marriage, it is a good boost. A feel-good drama, Fireproof has a strong agenda: stay married, lead an honest life, and let your faith in a higher power help guide you. A still boyish-looking Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains) stars as Caleb Holt, a mercurial-tempered firefighter whose marriage is on the rocks. He clearly enjoys his status
Kirk Cameron’s Growing Pains In 2008, Kirk Cameron elevated his status as a serious actor when he starred in the action movie Fireproof. As a teen, Kirk Cameron captured the hearts of young girls from 1985 to 1992 starring as Mike Seaver on the sitcom “Growing Pains.” However, young Cameron felt empty inside until a friend’s father took him to church and Kirk Cameron found Jesus. From that point on, the young actor was labeled a religious nut for trying to avoid television situations that compromised his faith, and his career suffered as a result. Since then Cameron has appeared in several TV movies and the “Left Behind” movies, where Cameron garnered praise for his acting skills as Buck Williams. Kirk Cameron in Fireproof However, it is in Fireproof where Kirk Cameron finally hits his stride as an actor. While Fireproof won’t win any awards from Hollywood, it is an engaging movie with a positive message delivered with a palatable blend of subtlety, action, humor, and believability. Th
