Would the federal injurious species listing prohibit possession?

0

No. An injurious wildlife listing does not prohibit intrastate transport, use, possession, and so forth, where not prohibited by state laws. Injurious species may not be imported into the United States or transported across state lines without a permit from the USFWS. Permits may be granted for scientific, medical, educational or zoological purposes. The Lacey Act does not have provisions for the movement of personal pets. Pet owners who move out-of-state would not be able to take a reptile listed as injurious wildlife with them; they would need to surrender their pet with a permitted Florida dealer or exhibitor through the Nonnative Pet Amnesty Program.
