A28. The government promotion of the ECFA takes into consideration Taiwan interests in economic development in general. Although the government will, in its initial planning, include petrochemical and other products on the list of items for early tariff reduction, other industries may also, based on a consideration of their own developments, evaluate whether they want their products on the list of items for early tariff reduction. Therefore, the ECFA will definitely not be directed toward benefiting only a few specific industries. Meanwhile, regarding industries that are highly sensitive and those that will be greatly impacted, the government will, during the negotiation, try to obtain a longer period of adjustment and smaller tariff reductions. It will continue to implement relevant assistance measures currently in place in order to enhance these industries?competitiveness, and it will carefully plan risk control mechanisms.
